PROJECT REPORT Colorado Bend State Park Project
Project Date: March 8-10, 1996 Reported by: Dale Barnard Person-hours: 114 Personnel: (16 folks) Tim Stich, Kevin Stafford, Jenny McCord, Dave Jordan, Dale Barnard, John Case, Stacy Case, Chris Hutton, Christopher Darilek, Jim Kennedy, Robert Albach, Neely Jones, Patty Kennedy, Kevin Quindlen, Terry Holsinger, Bonnie Longley
Jim's crew (Robert, Neely, Patty, Kevin Quindlen, Terry, and Bonnie) spent 6.5 hours working in a variety of caves. Kevin Quindlen and Neely dug in a blowing lead near station 20 in Sour Cave. Robert, Jim, Patty, and Bonnie completed 207.1 meters of surface survey, typing in several more sinks and the roadway for reference. Then, Bonnie and Robert looked at Bitter Fissure and did a bunch of digging around the entrance. Terry joined the surface survey crew and tied in three other sinks near sour cave. They went back to Sour Cave and moved a bunch of rock, dug a bunch of dirt, and surveyed the new leads for another 18.73 meters of passage. Jim referred to it as an awesome display of digging and surveying prowess. Tim's crew (Kevin Stafford, Jenny, and Dave) spent 7.5 hours surveying a large portion of GSOC Cave, including the connection to entrance 2. A small amount of survey work needs to be completed at the end of stations 16, 8, and 6. Dale's crew (John, Stacy, Chris Hutton, and Christopher Darilek) drove to SAB194 and spend 8.5 hours training on surveying and completing six shots (survey not gin). The profile view was not sketched because it will be easier to do with a few more shots done and done in a single day. We confirmed the connection between SAB194 and SAB218 and plan to replace the 218 sign with a second 194. Next trip, we will pick up from the flagged stations and continue upward toward the 218 entrance. Christopher and Dale left after 6.5 hours of work to get back to Austin, but the rest of the crew visited Horseshoe Chimney. | ||
