Keith, Alvis, Chris Heuss and Chris Kriczky surveyed the entrance
area of Gorman Creek Crevice. We spent about 2.5 hours at that task. Next
we spent an hour looking for, with no success, Be Snaky. After that, we
dropped by our vehicles and got our caving gear to go to Mystery Hole.
We explored it for about 30 minutes. The ceiling was covered with cave
crickets. A dead raccoon was in the middle of the passage near the entrance.
We went to several clean up caves to look for buckets to use this coming
up earth day. It was getting late by now, so we headed back to camp.
Another team made up of Pam Massey, Chris Sobin, Jody Horton
and Alfred Santangelo went to Cicurina to practice verticle work. They
spent 5.5 hours practicing and exploring the cave.
Another team made up of Jennifer Hargrove, Marcus Barksdale and
Dale Barnard spent 4 hours mapping SAB 194. They mapped 35 feet of passage
which puts the total depth is down to 42 feet.
Butch Fralia reports that he, Sharon Mastbrook, Pete Baron, Tina
Schmid and Chris Jagge went to the Lively pasture to get data for cave
descriptions. Butch and Sharon mostly remained on the surface and took
notes while the others gathered data. Wrote descriptions of caves 193,
218, 197, 186 and three untagged caves, lost from ridgewalking in February
1988. These lost caves are the same caves Keith and Alvis explored late
one night. They are located in the southwest corner of the Lively pasture,
near the fence intersection. Time out was 10:00 AM and they returned to
camp at 5:30 PM.
