Thursday packing to the sound of a hard rain, lightning and thunder,
in an otherwise quiet house. I could set for a long time in a tin roofed
house listening to the rain falling and an occasional clap of thunder,
etc. and folinding flash of lightning as it smacks the ground, kisses the
ground. The rain seems to wash all your cares away. A fresh start. . .
Rafal reports he, Pam Massey and Gonrad Gonzales started towards
the Lively Pasture around 10:30 A.M. Upon arrival we started towards SAB
194 and showed Dale where to start his survey with his group. Three of
us headed up the hill and upon locating SAB 197, we surveyed it in about
an hour. We passed Alvis' survey team in SAB 196, and headed to SAB 195
up the hill. We found the marker, but could not locate the cave. Thus,
we headed to SAB 198, which after 11/2 hours of surveying we completed
the survey. Then, we headed to locate SAB 187, next closest cave. Upon
finding it, we tried th enter it, but found it too tight to negotiate.
Although Alvis has entered the cave previously a couple of years back,
I consider the cave too dangerous to be negotiated because of its tightness,
and thue, the cave might be bumped down to karst feature status. Then around
4:30 P.M. the whole group proceeded to hike area south of SAB 187, and
after one hour we proceeded to the cars parked by the windmill without
finding anything significant. The group arrived at the campsite around
6:30 P.M. Total time spent out is 8 hours for 3 people.
